Additional features over single battles

- sunk and heavy damaged ships will be missing during future battles

- reinforcements, intelligence and decision between 2 battles
- new planes : F6F, B17...
- late 43 US ships and Yamato/Mushasi commitment

- submarines
-random strategic events
-other battles and scenarios: Midway, Doolittle Raid, Rennel Island, raid on Rabaul...
- new maps if the Japanese are going well: New Hebrides, New Caledonia, Northern Australia

Would also love to see the F-4U1 Corsair (Boyington's Black Sheep Squadron!)

There's already Corsairs in the already-existing '43 scenarios, if we can only get Cyril to publish them. Bismarck Sea down, three more to go.

Well, it is a long struggle Surprised
I haven't really started the design of the rules yet which could be quite huge
My guess is that it will take at least 2 years to complete

I would recommend that, like land battles, submarines be abstracted. As a carrier admiral you had no control over friendly subs. And all you could do about enemy subs was maintain constant vigilance and react quickly when one was detected. Really they might be best as "random events". An occasional enemy sighting or attack report from a friendly sub (maybe very outdated) and an alarm when an enemy is spotted. Hopefully the attack won't be successful!
I fear spending tedious time setting up submarine patrol lines to little affect.

I was thinking you could decide a high-level use your subs- against reinforcement convoys
- tactically against surface and carriers
- as reco to detect enemy forces or get intelligence before the battle

Sub action will be usually outside a battle scope but resolve as skirmish event (like the attack on the Wasp or Saratoga). Subs may also gave the cup de grace to crippled ships
and as you said, you must allocate ships or planes to protect against possible attacks (ex: keep some DD to protect shipping to Australia) so that not all of them are available

. . . or like damage to a Japanese ship caused by one of those invisible, uncontrollable PBYs?
