I noticed there are now Torpedo marks on the ship counter.  So if a ship has 4 torpedo marks on the counter, does this mean it has 4 torpedos ready to fire or how many reloads it has?  The explanation in the rules are not clear.

It has 4 salvoes as ammunition
After this it can’t fire anymore
I will add it to the rules

It was rather clear to me but of course it is better to write it down.
Maybe later some additional markers for shells and fuel?

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

So how many torpedoes can each ship fire per salvo (4 torpedoes)?  Is it the same for all ships?  I also assume that after each salvo is fired one torpedo mark is removed from the ship counter, correct?

It is usually 1 but could be 2
The ammo bars represents the remaining salvoes

Okay

I would write the description as follows.

Torpedo icons represent available ammo.
One torpedo represent 1 salvo (4 torpedoes)
If surprised is achieved, a ship can fire 1 to 2 salvoes per battle depending on combat condition.
