I've come to the conclusion that the Auto Targeting Option should be eliminated.

The primary reason is that I think no one really uses it that much.  I think most people just leave it on Compact because there are not many situations where "Even" or Random" is beneficial.  I would also eliminate the bonuses of compact bombing as well.

What I would do is replace it with a modified version of "Compact" bombing with no bonuses and that increases the chance of aircraft hitting other targets.

I've been reading more actual combat reports and I realized that there was a higher number of planes that decided at the last moment to select other targets beside the primary targets.  The biggest reason was because of CAP.  Some planes just decide to bomb the nearest target because they had enemy fighters in their tail and/or the CAP in the primary target was too hot.  The second cause that forced planes to change targets was because of damage.  Planes that suffered heavy damage and struggled to to stay in the air just unloaded on the nearest. Figuring it best to hit something while still in the air.  The third reason seemed to be Weather, primarily clouds.  Sometimes aircraft came out of clouds and found themselves in better position to attack other ships and trying to reposition themselves to hit the primary targets would just take too long.  I can provide more example but I think you get the idea.

So I think that having a single modified compact attack with no bonuses that increases the chance of aircraft attacking other ships with produce more accurate battle results.

The other thing I would recommend is also redoing the "Core" Targeting.  I would list it at "Targeting Options" as shown below.

Targeting Options (choose)

Primary     - CV/TRS [CV-TRS][BB-CA][DD]
Secondary - BB-CA [CV-TRS][BB-CA][DD]
Other        - DD [CV-TRS][BB-CA][DD]

Well,I am changing of bombing tactic when I want to attack DD or escort ships

The idea of random target because of CAP result is interesting

Well actually, i fully agree with this.
Personally, i would try to make a list of priority typically:
1 CV
2 CVL
3 BB
4 CA
5 CL
6 DD

TRS are a special case but to me, when present in a TF, they are the top priority except if there is a CVL/CVE (i think CVs and TRs cannot be altogether within the same TF).

Then some rules may apply,in order to distribute the attacking planes on the target: typically below a given number of air units to be determined, focus on the highest priority target (or one of them if they are several); then if they are more, the rest of attacking units go on the second highest priority target; and so on...
Plus a randomization to take into account the effects described by Archerfish which i think is very interesting.

It's not just the CAP but ships AA and cloud cover as well.  But it seems CAP has a greater affect of forcing attacking planes to attack other targets than AA.

The one thing I haven't been able to determine is the percentage of attacking plane that are forced to change targets.

This Midway Battle Report provides a couple of examples where attacking aircraft were forced to change targets.
