Greetings, I gather this forum is English-speaking, despite that the registration is in French. I downloaded the game about a month ago on my iPhone, and I was able to pick up the general flow of the game fairly well. It seems like an awesome game, especially to be on a mobile platform, however, I still completely suck at it. When I say that, understand I’m fairly good at most other strategy games; I’ve played Axis and Allies for years and I’m fairly competent at games on my computer that have a similar amount of depth. No matter how much I try or how much time I invest into the game, the AI hands my butt to me every time I play, no matter how “easy” the description says the mission is. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Hi Langemarck,
Si tu le veux vraiment, on peut parler français Laughing
I think the AI is fairly good in the game, since it have some benefits over the human player, especially about searching (AI generally never forgets to make searches) and react quickly.
There is no magic solution but i think you have to design carefully your searches and take special attention to CAPs which are your main assets to stop (or try to stop) enemy air raids. You also have to design carefully your own air raids and try to have some escort otherwise your bombers will be vulnerable and the attack will be probably not very efficient. You need also to take advantage of the night to prepare day actions. And not rely too much on surface combats especially on the US side. And finally you will need some luck...

Mein Deustch is gut genung. Mein französich weniger. I’d hope there is no magic solution, that would be a very poor game. I’ll keep that in mind, I don’t really put up search aircraft like I probably should, nor do I send large groups of fighters to escort bombers. I’ll try that out. Is there an ideal distance to launch aircraft from carriers? Should you stay as far away as possible from enemy ships, or should you get in close before launching bombers?

That's a good question, the closer you are, the more efficient but the more vulnerable you are. And if you get really close, you should fall within range of land based bombers and have some trouble with them. Cat and mouse game...
Anyway remember that, if your scouts cannot find and shadow enemy ships, you won't be able to attack them. Conversely, if AI's scout cannot find and shadow your ships, it won't be able to attack them. Cat and mouse game again... However you have some solution to get rid of enemy scouts. But AI may do the same with yours.

Then, on a more general basis, the game tries to stick to history and historically the Japanese side was stronger on the offensive while the US side was stronger on the defensive. Up to you to design your strategy and tactics in order to optimize your own strong points. I think good historical knowledge of the actual 1942-43 carrier operations may really help.

Good to know. As far as World War 2 History goes, Pacific naval battles aren’t my strongest area, but I’m still fairly knowledgeable of them. Your advice is much appreciated, thanks.
